Olam PFB manufactures and markets a range of branded packaged food products to consumers across multiple African markets. Over the last decade, the PFB business has established regional brand and market leadership positions in multiple consumer categories across targeted markets in West Africa.

Packaged Foods Business portfolio currently counts eight key brands that are marketed to more than ten South and West African markets. The consumer categories we are present in West Africa include Tomato Paste, Instant Noodles, Instant Beverages, Biscuits, Confectioneries, Edible Oil, Pasta, and Dairy.

Job Description

• Utilize engineering fundamentals to independently identify, propose, analyze, and design cost effective maintenance system that drive growth, reduce costs, improve quality, and keep plant at the top in manufacturing sites/competitors.
• Lead and coordinate the Factory Maintenance team and maintain competencies, motivation, and performance to achieve the team’s mission and objectives.
• Asset Planning – Manage the factory’s engineering data in respect to the formulation of the Business Strategy and that the correct decisions are made in respect to the factory assets.
• Project Management – Monitor the factory’s capital investments. Ensure the justification, request for approval and reporting are in line with the Guidelines for Capital Investment.
• E&A – Ensure that the electrical services, degree of automation and EMS are in line with the business requirements.
• Propose and monitor Factory Engineering's key performance indicators.
• Drive innovation/renovation within the factory
• Ensure that projects are designed with a high degree of flexibility to better enable the operations to adjust to a changing environment keeping in mind safety and the environment.
• Ensure engineering operates as part of a multi-functional team with clear and open communication.

Strategic Effectiveness

• Extensive knowledge of food engineering fundamentals and applications, knowledge of statistics, design of experiments, problem-solving techniques, engineering economics
• In-depth knowledge of food processing plants and technology.
  – Maintenance technologies.
  – Operation of utilities.
• Knowledge of food safety, regulatory requirements for food safety and hygienic engineering.
• SAP
• Planning and organization.
• Analytical skills in problem-solving.
• Communication and networking.
• Understanding of financial analysis and relevant business drivers.
• Project Engineering/Management – Plant Design & Construction

Operational Effectiveness

• Responsible for efficient and prompt maintenance and repair of plant machinery.
• Ensure that engineering drives the energy and environment reporting system.
• Ensures that workers adhere to hygienic standards and safety regulations.
• Ensure that staff under his control is working according to factory rules and regulations.
• Manages spare master data and makes the necessary changes and updates.
• Exercises strict control over absences, lateness, overtime discipline etc
• Does any job assigned to him and takes full responsibility for work done.

Requirements

• Degree in engineering, preferably mechanical/electrical / chemical/process engineering.
• Minimum 8 – 10 years experience in a technical field, preferably in food manufacturing or consumer goods industry, including Maintenance responsibilities.
• Must be fluent in both oral and written English
• Strong technical and managerial skills.
• Experience expected to have resulted in a solid record of accomplishment.
