A Web Application Firewall (WAF) Administrator will be responsible for configuring, monitoring, and maintaining a WAF system to protect web applications from attacks. Overall, the WAF administrator will be playing a critical role in protecting web applications from attacks and ensuring the security of the organization's digital assets.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or a related area
- 5 years of experience with Web Application administration

Knowledge, Experience & Skills Required:
- Configuration: The WAF administrator is responsible for configuring the WAF system to protect web applications against known and unknown threats. This involves setting up rules, policies, and filters to detect and block attacks.
- Monitoring: The WAF administrator must monitor the WAF system regularly to ensure that it is functioning correctly and effectively. They should also monitor logs to detect any suspicious activity or attacks that may have been missed by the WAF system.
- Maintenance: The WAF administrator is responsible for maintaining the WAF system by applying patches, updates, and upgrades as necessary. They must also ensure that the WAF system is compatible with other systems and software used within the organization.
- Incident Response: In the event of an attack, the WAF administrator is responsible for responding to the incident. This includes investigating the attack, identifying the source of the attack, and taking necessary actions to prevent further damage.
- Reporting: The WAF administrator must provide regular reports on the effectiveness of the WAF system. They should provide insights into the types of attacks blocked, the number of attacks detected, and any other relevant information that can help improve the security posture of the organization.
Essential Technical Skills
You must have an understanding of a good understanding of the following, or have equivalent experience:
- NSE 4 FortiGate Security
- NSE 4 FortiGate Infrastructure
- HTTP protocol
- Basic knowledge of HTML, JavaScript, and server-side dynamic page languages, such as PHP

- Familiarity with Sophos, Fortinet products
